Julia’s Best Week Ever, October 5, 2017: Epcot 35–Something Old, Something New

by on October 5, 2017

Ever have one of those weekends when you really don’t have plans? This weekend was one of those. With the weather predicted to be a washout, we thought about just staying at home. But when we got up on October 1 and the weather wasn’t too horrible, we piled in the car (with umbrellas) and headed over to Epcot for the visionary park’s 35th anniversary. We weren’t the only ones–the line of cars extended as far as the eye could see.

When we arrived, we got a special Epcot 35 button and a unique map for the day. We unfolded the map, and it was a neat poster souvenir.

We had no interest in buying merchandise, but I think we were the only people in all of Walt Disney World who didn’t. The line for I Was There merchandise stretched from Innoventions all the way to the main entrance. On the other hand, this was the “line” for Spaceship Earth.

New Film for Epcot’s China Pavilion in World Showcase

by on July 16, 2017

While there are clearly a lot of major changes on tap for Epcot’s future, there was also a smaller, but still significant, change announced during the D23 Expo.

A brand-new film will replace the current Reflections of China film at Epcot’s China Pavilion in World Showcase.

The film will still be a 360 Circlevision film, but will include new and innovative technology. Disney will film this new version utilizing a next-generation digital camera system and the presentation will be shown on a seamless Circlevision screen. That’s going to be a first! It will be incredible to see the landscapes of China in a very realistic way.

This update was mentioned briefly during the Parks and Resorts presentation, so not much else is known about the China film or when it will make its debut, but I will keep you posted when further information gets released!

by on June 17, 2016

Guests who would like to see just what Shanghai Disneyland has to offer, but won’t be able to make it to China any time soon will now be able to do so at Epcot. The Hose of the Whispering Willows gallery in the China Pavilion found in World Showcase will be hosting a new exhibit called “Inside Shanghai Disney Resort.”

This new showcase will feature artwork and props that show the attractions and more found in the all new Shanghai Disneyland Park. The exhibit will also show how the Chinese culture is present at the resort, making it authentically Disney, yet distinctly Chinese. Guests will see how the Imagineers took Chinese inspiration to create the park, as well as the two hotels, and the Disneytown shopping district.

So, if you’re curious about this new resort in Shanghai, make sure to head to the China Pavilion at Epcot to learn more.
