Did you know that there are hotels that are on Walt Disney World property, but they aren’t officially Disney resort hotels, with the Disney moniker? The Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels are located right near Disney Springs, but because they weren’t Disney owned and operated, they didn’t have the perks of being on-site hotels. That is until now.

Beginning with stays on January 1, 2018, and continuing throughout 2018, Guests of the Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels will be able to participate in Extra Magic Hours at the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks. For those who maybe stay at these resorts but they don’t know what Extra Magic Hours are, Extra Magic Hours are when one of the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks opens early or stays open later for guests to enjoy select attractions.  To use this hotel benefit on a Disney vacation and staying at one of these Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels, Guests will need a valid, official Extra Magic Hours voucher from the hotel, and a valid Walt Disney World theme park ticket.

In addition, Guests of these resorts will receive an additional perk. Those who are scheduled to begin their vacation starting on January 10, 2018, are Guests at the Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels, and have booked a Walt Disney Travel Company package including a stay at one of the hotels, and theme park admission, will be able to link their hotel reservation on MyDisneyExperience.com. This means that once you link your valid theme park ticket, Guests of these resorts will be able to make their FastPass+ reservations 60-days in advance, just like those staying at a Disney owned and operated resort.

Ask It Results: Best Extra Magic Hours

by on November 22, 2017

It’s Wednesday, and that means we’re answering the most controversial questions in the universe here on Ask It. (Okay, maybe not *that* controversial, like “Is the bread mixture thing served at Thanksgiving called dressing or stuffing if you cook it outside the bird?” Although if you want to weigh in on that in the comments, go for it!)

This week, out question had to do with one of the best on-property benefits–Extra Magic Hours. On select days at Walt Disney World, a park may have Extra Magic Hours for people staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel. Morning Extra Magic Hours allow you to get in for select attractions one hour before the official park opening. Evening Extra Magic Hours allow you to stay two or more hours after park closing. Which is better? We asked you:

Which Walt Disney World Extra Magic Hours do you prefer to take advantage of?

Here’s your results.

Ask It: Best Extra Magic Hour

by on November 15, 2017

At Walt Disney World, Extra Magic Hours are those perks for  guests staying at a Disney hotel that give you extra time in a select theme park on a select day. Typically, Extra Magic Hours means that with a simple scan of your MagicBand to confirm you are staying at a Disney hotel, you can get into the Morning Extra Magic Hour park one hour early, or you have the ability to stay at the Evening Extra Magic Hour park up to two hours after the official park closing. By taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours, you can have much lower wait times for many popular attractions. But which of the Extra Magic Hours do you prefer? This week’s question is:

Which Walt Disney World Extra Magic Hours do you prefer to take advantage of?

  • Morning EMH (55%, 320 Votes)
  • Evening EMH (45%, 257 Votes)

Total Voters: 577

A while back, the news came out that from May 27 through July 4, Disney’s Animal Kingdom would be open for extra Evening Extra Magic Hours. Resort Guests would have the exclusive opportunity to be in the park from 11:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. to enjoy the beauty and splendor that is Pandora – The World of Avatar at night.  Well, due to the expected heavy crowds, Disney has announced that a few more attractions will be open, in addition to the attractions found in Pandora.

Guests will now also be able to experience the following attractions during these extra late night hours:

Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
Primeval Whirl
TriceraTop Spin
Fossil Fun Games
Tree of Life awakenings
Rivers of Light
Discovery Island Carnivale

In addition, select Food and Beverage locations and Merchandise options will be available, as well.

Looks like it will be a good time to visit the park if you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel and plan on visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

Just about every reputable planning guide for Walt Disney World (ahem, Unofficial Guide) strongly advises getting up early in Orlando – really early.
