The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights may get all the publicity, but one of my favorite parts of the holidays at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the chance to reunite with performers from the former Pleasure Island. The 2015 Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special is now playing for a limited run in DHS’s Premier Theater, once again rekindling the Yule Log of improv comedy at Walt Disney World.

A tribute to the popular comedy club that once anchored Downtown Disney’s Pleasure Island in the days before Disney Springs, the 2015 Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special brings a half dozen of the beloved venue’s veterans together for half-hour shows of skillfully improvised skits and seasonal songs.

Seth Kubersky’s Best Week Ever July 30, 2015: Drizzling Disney Springs

Best Week Ever Disney Springs

Take a drizzly tour of Disney Springs in this Best Week Ever (photos by Seth Kubersky)

The end of July 2015 has certainly earned a spot on my Best Week Ever list, because just days ago my brand new book, The Unofficial Guide to Universal Orlando, emerged from the printer on actual dead trees, and will be available for purchase early next month. What better way to celebrate such a milestone than with a wet walk around the worksite known as Disney Springs?

Unlike Derek Burgan, I’ve been avoiding the area formerly known as Downtown Disney like the plague since construction began on its massive re-imagining. Instead, I found myself on a “scenic route” behind Old Key West and Saratoga Springs, in a land where golf carts roam,…

Observations from Downtown Disney (Fit2Run, Theme Park Tagalongs, New Bridge to Saratoga Springs, Construction Walls)

by on September 9, 2014

Time to head back to Walt Disney World’s shopping and dining district, Downtown Disney (DTD). In my last several photo reports of DtD I have skipped over just how many construction walls have popped up all over the place, so today we’re going to get up close and personal with those, as well as a new bridge connecting DTD to the Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. We’ll also check out the Fit2Run store on the West Side, look at some new merchandise at World of Disney, artwork at Art of Disney, collectibles at D-Sreet and give a full report on whether or not Theme Park Tagalongs actually do what they say they do (as I had my doubts when I first saw them). So sit back and get ready to take a tour through the construction capital of the world (and don’t forget that clicking on any picture will bring up the full size version). Ready? Well let’s get to it!
