Daisy’s Best Week Ever, November 23, 2017: A Tokyo Trip

by on November 23, 2017

Hello friends! It doesn’t seem possible, but I just returned from another trip to Tokyo Disney Resort. Many, many months ago I found a $700 round trip airfare from Orlando to Tokyo and even though my hubby couldn’t join me, I decided to book the trip. I’m so glad I did, because now I can share my Christmas experience with you. Let’s start with walking into Tokyo Disneyland.

As many of you know, the Main Street section of Tokyo Disneyland is covered and the parade doesn’t come through this area. It’s an adjustment getting used to it, but I loved that the Christmas decorations could be placed lower without worrying about parade floats. Everywhere you looked was tinsel and wreaths. Tokyo really does things right!

International Parks Round-Up – October 2017

by on October 31, 2017

There are a lot of things happening right now at the international Disney Parks! This month has given us a whole slew of exciting announcements, so let’s break them down park by park.

Disneyland Paris

First, Disneyland Paris announced that Summer 2018 will be the Marvel Summer of Super Heroes. At Walt Disney Studios Park you’ll be able to meet Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, and Black Widow. Furthermore, new shows are being developed just for this event. The content of these shows is still unknown.

Additionally, construction will be starting in October 2018 that will transform Disney’s Hotel New York. The hotel will become Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. Guests will be transported to the action-packed, inspiring world of Super Heroes here. It is reopening in 2020.

Disneyland Paris celebrated their 25th anniversary on April 12 this year, and the festivities are continuing through Summer 2018. (I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about everything they’ve done thus far.) The Marvel Summer of Super Heroes is being touted as THE big event of 2018. It will also be the last event of the 25th anniversary celebration.

Daisy Lauren’s Best Week Ever: April 16, 2015

by on April 16, 2015

1Hi, Everyone! Welcome to the Best Week Ever here at Tokyo Disney Resort! As some of you might have guessed, my vacation last week was to a far flung Disney destination. While I could never give any real summary of the parks in just one post, I wanted to share a few of my favorite photos from the trip.

When we visited Tokyo just six months ago, I thought it would be my only trip there for awhile. However, when we started planning a vacation to Disneyland we realized that it wasn’t much more to head back to Tokyo. When factoring in airline miles, the fact that everything is cheaper, and a good conversion rate, it actually saved us money to head back to Tokyo! Well, that was until we changed our flights to arrive a day early and found out there were no hotels in the city! (oops) We ended up having to pay $700 for a night at the Disneyland Hotel. While the hotel and view were amazing, the price was incredibly hard to justify. So learn from my mistake and book that hotel first. On the positive side it means I have this room tour to share. What do you think? Is it worth it?

Why I’m Going to Tokyo Disneyland Next Year Instead

Traveling is an obsession. The more you travel the stronger this obsession becomes. And there is only one way to keep this “passion” in control and that is by (obviously) traveling. For me, staying put in one place gets harder and harder. This is why traveling is so important to me. Since living and traveling to a dozen different countries in the past several years, my obsession for traveling has grown and has become a part of me. It is something that I think about all the time, which is why every few months I go back home (Southern California) to visit family, friends, and to just get away. But discovering new and desirable places is my main goal. And if these places happen to have an amazing theme park—especially Disney—then that is icing on the cake.

Going to Disney World for the first time—back in 2012—was awesome. I had a great time with friends and exploring one of the best Disney theme park resorts on Earth. After my first trip, I decided to make Disney World a bi-yearly adventure. Unfortunately for me, a couple of things happened: Disney theme park prices went up and learning more about Tokyo Disneyland. I made the choice to forgo my Disney World voyages and invest that money—and time–on a trip would be more thrilling and exciting. Even if that means I will have to pinch my pennies as hard as possible.

Video: “Once Upon a Time” Nighttime Spectacular at Tokyo Disneyland

by on October 22, 2014

I was in Tokyo Disneyland last week as part of TouringPlans Everywhere and got a chance to see the new nighttime spectacular that premiered earlier this year. The show is called Once Upon a Time and uses the same projection technology seen in Celebrate the Magic at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and Disney Dreams in Disneyland Paris. Once Upon a Time is presented on to Cinderella Castle and features Mrs. Potts and Chip as they take the audience through various classic Disney animated films like Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland, through newer films like Tangled and Frozen. Laser, fire and pyrotechnics also appear along with the projections on the castle. Personally I enjoyed the show quite a bit and thought each sequence was beautifully done. The show clocks in at almost 20 minutes long, so with Once Upon a Time, Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade AND fireworks the nighttime entertainment lineup at Tokyo Disneyland is sizable and impressive. But enough of what I think, take a look at our video of a full performance of the show:

Daisy Lauren’s Best Week Ever: September 11, 2014

by on September 11, 2014

Hi, Everyone! Welcome to the Best Week Ever here at Tokyo Disney Resort?!? That’s right! Last week I had the incredible good fortune to fulfill one of my lifelong dreams by visiting Tokyo. The city was amazing, but, of course, I couldn’t come near a new Disney park without a lengthy visit. I thought rather than skipping my weekly update that you’d like to come with me. I took thousands of photos, and there’s no way I could share them all in a single post. However, this is just to whet your whistle as Guy will be visiting next month. So let’s get started with these amazing parks!

TouringPlans Everywhere – I’m Going to Tokyo Disneyland!

by on July 24, 2014

Back in April we announced that TouringPlans will be spending a weekend in every Disney-operated destination on the planet. The powers that be (Ed. – your naiveté is adorable, please let Len keep thinking he’s in charge around here) have assigned me to a destination I have always dreamed about visiting. I can finally say “I’m going to Tokyo Disneyland!”

Tokyo Disneyland has always been a bit of a mythological and mysterious place to me. In the late 80s and early 90s (before I had the internet in my home) I would always see glimpses of it in the old Disney News Magazines. The pictures I saw of the park made it look similar, but different enough that it always held my curiosity. Tokyo Disneyland continued to stay on my mind in 2001 when Tokyo Disney Resort’s second gate opened, DisneySea. Every picture I’ve seen of DisneySea make the park look absolutely spectacular. Anyway, back to the Tokyo resort being mysterious to me. I think one of the most daunting tasks most people have when they think about visiting Tokyo Disneyland is that they don’t even know where to start with their planning. I know I was the same way. Hopefully this and future blog posts I write on this subject will help you plan a trip to Japan. That’s my goal.

I’m a native to Los Angeles, California, and have been visiting the original Disneyland since 1986. This will not only be my first time visiting Tokyo Disneyland, but also my first time traveling out of the country. My wife will be making the trip with me, and because it also her first time in Japan, we will take advantage of doing some non-Disney sightseeing in Tokyo and Osaka.

Celebrate Disneyland’s 58th Birthday with Vintage Video (plus Jungle Cruise News)

by on July 15, 2013

This Wednesday (July 17, 2013), the Disneyland Park celebrates its 58th birthday. If you are an Annual Passholder in the Anaheim area, you can mark the occasion on Tuesday at the final of three free presentations detailing the resort’s early years.

Even if you can’t make it out to wish the park a happy birthday in person, you can still honor the occasion at home by watching this recently released compilation of color footage from Disneyland’s opening months, provided courtesy of the Disney History Institute. Check out the rare views of short-lived attractions like the Phantom motorboats, Storybook-less canal boats, and Main Street’s performing monkey.
